My family has been visiting the valley since before there was a lake, so get off of your high horse. You think your families have more of a right to be there simply because they are well connected enough to have received their lot leases back in the day. Not all of the cabins are well taken care of. In my opinion, many of them are dilapidated and should be torn down, not all, but definitely some. You choose to have the cabin and all the responsibility that comes with it, so quit your complaining. The fact is that the lake does not belong to the cabin owners. I have personally been told told to "Get off my property" by more than a few cabin owners simply for having the audacity to take a walk around the shore of the lake. My children have been yelled at for having the audacity to be noisy a few hours after dark...once again, by a cabin owner. I am sure that there are boorish campers, you meet that type everywhere these days. I have NEVER dumped my trash in a cabin owners garbage can or dumpster, but I have witnessed many cabin owners doing just that at the boat launch and day use area garbage cans.If you want your precious lake to be so exclusive, I suggest you purchase the entire property and put up gates. Oh, and as a PG&E ratepayer, I say you are welcome for the subsidies that my money provides you. Myself and my family will return for generations as we are ALL guests of nature in the wonderful Philbrook Valley.
I am sorry Ron (It is Ron right?), but the more I read this the more angry I get. You come in here, throw stones, whine and complain and then have the audacity to tell us to stop complaining. Many of us work throughout the year to make Philbrook a better place whether it be through efforts to keep the lake and its surroundings as pristine as possible by simply cleaning up after others or by working closely with the other stakeholders to ensure the larger projects are addressed (I am guessing you have not participated in any of this). This website is for use in that process. It is an open forum used to discuss the lake and for all people (not just cabin owners) to address issues which require attention, as well as general chit chat. Next time you are up there, introduce yourself, you sound like you have a stake in what occurs on the lake also, be pleasant and take an active role in the 'community." I generally have a beer or a glass of wine ready to go for anyone that stops by. You would be surprised how participating within a system works to your advantage, moreso than just complaining semi-anonymously.
Sincerely,
Brooks Taylor
