My family has been visiting the valley since before there was a lake, so get off of your high horse.  You think your families have more of a right to be there simply because they are well connected enough to have received their lot leases back in the day.  Not all of the cabins are well taken care of.  In my opinion, many of them are dilapidated and should be torn down, not all, but definitely some.  You choose to have the cabin and all the responsibility that comes with it, so quit your complaining.  The fact is that the lake does not belong to the cabin owners.  I have personally been told told to "Get off my property" by more than a few cabin owners simply for having the audacity to take a walk around the shore of the lake.  My children have been yelled at for having the audacity to be noisy a few hours after dark...once again, by a cabin owner.  I am sure that there are boorish campers, you meet that type everywhere these days.  I have NEVER dumped my trash in a cabin owners garbage can or dumpster, but I have witnessed many cabin owners doing just that at the boat launch and day use area garbage cans.If you want your precious lake to be so exclusive, I suggest you purchase the entire property and put up gates.  Oh, and as a PG&E ratepayer, I say you are welcome for the subsidies that my money provides you.  Myself and my family will return for generations as we are ALL guests of nature in the wonderful Philbrook Valley.

I am sorry Ron (It is Ron right?), but the more I read this the more angry I get.  You come in here, throw stones, whine and complain and then have the audacity to tell us to stop complaining.  Many of us work throughout the year to make Philbrook a better place whether it be through efforts to keep the lake and its surroundings as pristine as possible by simply cleaning up after others or by working closely with the other stakeholders to ensure the larger projects are addressed (I am guessing you have not participated in any of this).  This website is for use in that process.  It is an open forum used to discuss the lake and for all people (not just cabin owners)  to address issues which require attention, as well as general chit chat.  Next time you are up there, introduce yourself, you sound like you have a stake in what occurs on the lake also, be pleasant and take an active role in the 'community."  I generally have a beer or a glass of wine ready to go for anyone that stops by.  You would be surprised how participating within a system works to your advantage, moreso than just complaining semi-anonymously.

Sincerely,

Brooks Taylor

You obviously failed to understand the point I made in my first posting, or you chose not to see it.  You clearly have a "bone to pick" with the cabin owners, as your resentment is evident.  I have no doubt that I will be banging my head against the proverbial wall, so I will pop the aspirin and give it another shot.

The "high horse" comment is ridiculous.  The "1939" comment was meant to show the family loyalty to the valley, and its history.  My grandparents did have the foresight to grab a lot "back in the day".  However, the retaining of that property is not a given, a point that every cabin owner on the lake knows all too well.

I have never complained about the money spent, or work done, around the cabin.  It is a responsibility that I accept willingly, and wantingly.  That fact you percieved it as complaining allows great insight into your frame of mind regarding my statements.

The fact is that the lake does not belong to the cabin owners.

Really?  I was confused on that point.  I thought maybe PG&E, or the Forest Service had gifted the land/lake to the cabin owners.  How disappointed am I?

If you want your precious lake to be so exclusive, I suggest you purchase the entire property and put up gates.

Do you think the aforementioned entities will allow that to happen?  Where in any of the posts did anybody mention they wanted the lake to be exclusive?  You are inferring a lot here when you make this comment.

Myself and my family will return for generations as we are ALL guests of nature in the wonderful Philbrook Valley.

Is this some kind of veiled threat against the tyranny of the hated "cabin owners".  Dude... nobody cares if you go up there, or if you don't.  Nobody knew who you were before you started these ridiculous posts, so nobody will know you next year...  Unless of course you choose to be the Grand Marshall of the "Philbrook Anti-Cabin Owner Revolutionary" parade.
